A CAR crashed through the central reservation of a major Southampton road this morning.
The Vauxhall Astra ploughed through iron railings in the middle of Redbridge Road opposite the Selco Hire building, during what police are calling a "multi-vehicle crash".
Officers temporarily blocked the outbound carriageway while they worked to secure the scene.
Traffic is flowing freely but a police car and a lorry are parked in the inside lane outbound, reducing the carriageway to two lanes. The restriction caused slight delays for drivers heading out of Southampton.
A police officer could be seen interviewing a couple sitting on a grass bank opposite the crash site.
The Vauxhall car came to rest on a wide section of the central reservation and is not blocking traffic, but more delays are expected to occur when the vehicle is recovered.
