IT WAS hot stuff - in more ways than one.

The hugely-popular Fair Oak Carnival took place on one of the hottest days of the year so far, with blazing sunshine beating down on the entrants as they made their way though the village.

The procession went from to New Road to New Century Park, which hosted a fete as well as a traditional funfair.

Shorts and T-shirts were the order of the day, with spectators either basking in the non-stop sunshine or seeking out the few shady spots to be found along the edge of the site.

The hot weather was in sharp contrast to the rain seen at the 2016 carnival.

Groups taking part in this year's event included the 7th Eastleigh Scout Group, Fair Oak Gardening Club and Fair Oak Trefoil Guild, which is raising funds for Open Sight - Hampshire's main organisation for the visually impaired.

Bishopstoke & Fair Oak Good Neighbours used the event to appeal for more volunteer drivers to take pensioners to medical appointments.
