POLICE are probing an attack in which a dog walker suffered a fractured eye socket.
The 55-year-old man was punched in the face after becoming embroiled in a fracas with another dog walker.
It was started when the victim asked the other dog walker to put his pet on a lead.
The attacker, also a man, refused and the pair began to 'push and shove' one another.
The attacker then punched the victim in the face, fracturing his eye socket.
Police say the incident took place at 9.30pm on Monday, June 18, on The Esplanade, in Gosport.
The assault happened near to the Millennium Timespace sundial.
Police have described the attack as 6ft tall, white, of an athletic build, with short, cropped, dark hair.
He was wearing light coloured shorts, a red t-shirt and round glasses.
His dog is described as a brown terrier-type breed and was wearing a brown harness.
