Reports of a fire in Shirley Towers turned out to be a false alarm.
FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Hampshire tower block today after reports of smoke issuing from the building.
Crews from Redbridge, St Mary's and Hightown were sent to Shirley Towers in Southampton just after 8.30am.
But it turned out to be a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the crews were not required to take any action.
