YET again Southampton is to shoot itself in the foot. A £100-a-day clean air tax, how long before:

1. Cruise ships start using Liverpool, Dover and, God forbid, Portsmouth?

2. Out-of-towners stop coming to Southampton, shopping, eating in restaurants, going to the Mayflower, or even clubbing!

The problem has been heightened by the council's transport policy; there are so many traffic lights the traffic doesn't move very far before being held up again! There are 19 sets of light on the B3024 from Windhover roundabout into the city!

Is the council prepared to help all the taxis to change to hybrid cars? Of course not, they don't give a fig for their residents/visitors!
