ORGANISERS of a Southampton festival say they have taken a record number of bookings for this year’s event

The Friends of St James’ Park in Shirley are organising this year’s summer festival and say Disney “royalty” has already confirmed attendance.

Rapunzel will be one of the features at the Shirley event - while other attractions include circus skills, a cycling agility course, storytime, sports, face painting, tombola, bouncy castle and lots more.

Also on the lineup is live dance and music throughout the day.

Guests are recommended to bring blankets and chairs for the show.

There will also be a BBQ, pizza van, crepes and other refreshments.

Mayor of Southampton Councillor Barnes-Andrews will open the July 14 event at 10.30am

The event is run by volunteers.

Events and social media volunteer Hilde Gronsberg said: “The organisers are very happy with the response the Festival has generated so far, and are working hard behind the scene to deliver a great event. They are proud to announce that they have a record high number of bookings and that the Mayor, Councillor Barnes-Andrews and Councillor Satvir Kaur will open the event, which starts at 10.30am on Saturday 14 July.

“Even Disney Royalty Rapunzel has confirmed she will be visiting us.”
