COMMENT: Saints must learn lessons and make a flying start to new campaign

Meanwhile, Saints will sport yellow and blue on their away strips - taking inspiration from the club's FA Cup winning season in 1975/76.

The kit, which pays "homage" to the FA Cup winning side, containing the likes of Paul Gilchrist, Peter Rodrigues and Bobby Stokes, will also feature blue shorts and yellow socks.

The red and white striped home kit will feature black trim, outlining the club badge and sleeves, as well as black shorts and black and red socks.

Saints last sported stripes on their home kit in the successful 2016/17 campaign - when the club finished 8th in the Premier League and runners up in the League Cup.

According to kit makers, Under Armour, both jerseys have been designed to support play performance level.

A spokesperson said: "Designed in Under Armour's Innovation Lab, the new jerseys have been developed to support player performance at the top level, incorporating both Under Armour's four-way HeatGear fabric and Moisture Transport System, to provide unrivalled mobility and moisture wicking capabilities that allow players to stay dry even in the toughest of conditions."

The home jersey is currently available to pre-order online at the Saints official store.

It will be available, along with the club's training wear, from the club store and online from Friday, June 28.

The away kit will be available later this summer.
