FINAL preparations are under way in the Eastleigh borough as a popular event is set to return this week.
The West End Carnival is back for another year, with organisers hoping this will be the best yet.
The carnival procession and a fete will take place on June 16.
The theme for this year’s event is ’60s, ’70s and ’80s music.
The procession will begin in Quob Lane at 1pm and will continue through the village, reaching Hatch Grange, where a fete of stalls and rides will be located.
Rick MacDonald, chairman of West End Carnival Association, said: “The carnival has been existing in West End for many years and unfortunately few years back it collapsed, but we are back now and we are as good and as strong as ever. We raise lots of money for local charities and not-for-profit organisations and last year we managed to give away over £4,000.”
The money raised at this year’s event will support youth groups in the village and the West End WI.
This year’s event is supported by several local businesses including the Ageas Bowl.
