TWO women have admitted stealing Lego worth thousands of pounds from superstores.

Carly Lucas and Samantha Richards, from Bursledon and Southampton, have both now pleaded guilty to stealing the expensive toys on May 15 last year.

The pair made off with Batman-themed sets during two thefts just minutes apart.

The first stop targeted was Tesco at Tower Park in Poole. Four boxes of Lego worth £858 were stolen.

Just 10 minutes later, the women visited Toys R Us on the Nuffield Industrial Estate.

Batman Lego sets worth £1,363 were loaded into trolleys and taken.

The women left in a car which allegedly featured number plates from a stolen vehicle.

Richards, 41 and of Millbrook Road East, Southampton, admitted two counts of theft at Poole Magistrates’ Court on June 1.

She was sentenced to a community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement, and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

She must also pay a total of £1,110.92 in compensation.

Lucas, 38 and of Manley Road in Bursledon, also admitted both thefts.

In addition, she pleaded guilty to stealing toys and clothing worth £222.75 from Sainsbury’s at Castlepoint on March 29 of this year, and failing to surrender to custody on April 17.

A sentencing hearing will take place at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on June 22.
