A CHARITY tea and cakes event raised more than £19,000.
People from across Hampshire 'made a brew for breast cancer' throughout March and April - and their scrumptious cakes raised cash that will go towards supporting people who have had a breast cancer diagnosis in the local community,
Staff at the call centre at Imperial Cars in Millbrook turned their office’s pink for a day in support of Breast Cancer Haven, Wessex. They also held a bake off, sold tea and cake and managed to raise over £100. Rosie Birkett – Wendes, Sales Support Officer at Imperial Cars said ‘It was such a fun way to bring our team together, all of us knew someone affected by breast cancer so it was a great way to show our support."
Heidi Rehman, community fundraiser for the Titchfield based charity said: "We are thrilled that so many people supported us this year.
"The amount raised is almost enough to put 19 people through a full personalised programme of support with Breast Cancer Haven.
"The Big Tea Cosy is a fantastic way of spreading awareness and raising much needed funds.
"Thank you so much to everyone who supported the campaign.
"If you were unable to hold a tea party in March, then please don’t worry, your tea parties can happen at any point during the year!"
