A HUNT has been stepped up for flytippers who struck again in Hampshire.

Waste chiefs are appealing to the public for help after a lorry load of rubbish was dumped in the Test Valley yet again.

This time the target for the dumpers was at a Hampshire County Council transport depot.

A pile of wood, plastic bags and other rubbish was left at the Luzborough Road transport depot in Romsey.

It comes as the latest in a series of dumps around Test Valley which has led to Romsey MP Caroline Nokes demanding action.

The MP is backing leaders at the district council in launching a crackdown on those leaving waste.

Just last week, the council pleaded with residents up and down the borough to check the legitimacy of any company’s offering to dispose of waste.

Following the most recent fly-tip on Saturday, environmental portfolio holder, Graham Stallard, warned that the council was getting tough.

And he reminded fly-tippers that the council is continuing to take a zero-tolerance approach to the criminal activity.

He said: “The council is appealing for witnesses to the fly tip at the Hampshire County Council depot, which was reported on Monday morning.

“We can confirm that the fly tip took place over the weekend.

“The council has recently had success in prosecuting fly-tippers in the borough and there are further prosecutions in the pipeline.

“We will continue to take a zero-tolerance approach to this criminal activity.

“This type of crime can have a significant impact on the local environment and we would ask anyone with information relating to this incident to contact us on 01264 368000.”

The latest dump follows the 50 tyres left in North Baddesley last month, as well as a number of fridges left in Houghton.

As previously reported, bosses vowed to crack down on those dumping across the borough, and saying they would do everything in their power to bring people to justice.

In April, council leader Phil North labelled as ‘scumbags’ those who left waste in Woodley Cemetery in Romsey.
