PARENTS and pupils from a Southampton school teamed up to make their neighbourhood a little greener.

Ninety year ones from Maytree Nursery and Infant School took to Derby Road to plant lavender and evergreens in large planters as part of their science classes which focus on the changing of the seasons.

The three large planters were supplied by Southampton City Council, and former pupil, Councillor Satvir Kaur came along to help the green-fingered seven-year-olds.

The plants were supplied by Mayfield Nurseries and were chosen by the children who visited the social enterprise in Weston.

Headteacher Jan Goatley said: β€œIt was a really successful morning with parents and children working together to engender pride in the community.”

Cllr Kaur said: I really enjoyed helping the green fingered seven year olds and it was good to see the children so engaged.”
