1 In Winchester...

Explore the Building Blocks of the Universe this weekend with flame-filled fun at Winchester Science Centre as they explore Matter.

Do you know what makes up everything around us?

Enjoy a live show investigating the properties of different materials, test unusual materials to destruction in the Invention Studio, examine the structure of crystals and use spectroscopy to see what clues light can tell us about the world around us.

The Building Blocks of the Universe starts today and runs until 4 June.

Tickets cost £12 for adults and £8.40 for children (aged 3-15 years) and include free entry to the live show. Live shows take place daily at 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm. Advanced online booking is recommended.

2 In Durley...

If you go down to Durley – you’re sure of a big surprise!

From tomorrow for three weeks, the much-loved Bear Hunt returns.

Prizes are available to everyone that finds all of the bears (there were 19 dedicated winners last year that found all 80 bears).

You can purchase a £2 entry pack, which includes your search form as well as a list of street names for the bears that are outside of Durley village, search tips, entry guidelines and a form to nominate your favourite bears, from Durley Primary School and pubs, The Robin Hood and Farmers Home. 3 In Millbrook...

If you're desperately missing the football season already, why not go along to the charity football match at Mansel Park between The Bricklayers Arms and The Saints pub on Bank Holiday Monday, in aid of Abby's Heroes.

Kick off is 1pm and there will be a hog roast and karaoke at The Bricklayers Arms afterwards where families are welcome until 8pm.

Abby's Heroes help and support children and their families, including bereaved families, who come under the care of the Piam Brown and T.Y.A wards at Southampton General Hospital. They offer financial and practical help as well as the opportunity to make lasting memories for the children and their families.

4 In Lee on the Solent...

The Hovercraft Museum is celebrating 50 years of cross Channel hover service in a three day Hovershow this Bank Holiday weekend at HMS Daedalus on Lee on the Solent's seafront.

The Museum will be open to the public on all three days and there will be lots to see and do, including visiting craft, operational displays, excursions and rides with Hovertravel (Sunday and Monday), exhibitions, tours and talks, a children’s petting zoo and bouncy castle.

Prices are £8 for adults, £7 for concessions and £5 for children, a family ticket for two adults and up to three children is £22.

5 In Portsmouth...

Coinciding with half term, the Mary Rose, in partnership with Bright Bricks, the UK’s premier independent LEGO brick building company, is giving brick enthusiasts the opportunity to recreate Holbein's portrait of Henry VIII in the form of a four-metre high LEGO brick mosaic.

The famous painting of the Tudor king, on display at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, continues to be one of the nation’s most cherished works of art and promises to provide a rich mosaic for LEGO brick fans.

Young and old will build an 8x8 square which will then be added to the mosaic to build up the overall picture of Henry, and help build this iconic image of the king that commissioned the Mary Rose.

6 In Aldershot...

From tomorrow, Aldershot Lido will be open every day during the half-term week until Sunday June 3.

It will then open weekends for the rest of June, until July when it opens daily in time for the summer holidays.

The large open-air pool offers three colourful water slides, a toddlers’ paddling pool and large sandpit plus a picnic area, swim shop and basketball area.

Take the Top Trumps Challenge this weekend at Marwell Zoo.

9 In Beaulieu...

Be transported back to the time of the Special Operations Executive in World War II and enter the world of spies and soldiers at Beaulieu throughout half term.

On Sunday join author Cameron McAllister to listen to book readings from The Tin Snail in the National Motor Museum and find out about the real-life story of plans for Citroen’s 2CV that were hidden from invading forces.

Take a tour on board HMS Medusa from until Tuesday, upgrade your ticket to include a visit to Buckler’s Hard. HMS Medusa helped to clear the way to Omaha Beach for D-Day and more recently took a starring role in the Dunkirk movie.

10 Near Romsey...

The National Trust is busy creating a new garden at Mottisfont this year, and here’s a chance to design your own, on their new creative trail full of imaginative activities.

What would you do if you could make any garden you wanted?

Would you fill it with swings and slides, or rollercoasters and rockets?

Follow the trail around the grounds, between 10am and 5pm, and fill up your sheet with your gardening plans.
