A SECOND consultation is to be held over changes to the parish boundaries across Test Valley.

The borough council is currently considering whether existing arrangements and boundaries should be changed in any way.

The first round of consultations took place at the end of last year, with Test Valley Borough Council then forming a set of draft recommendations based on what people had to say.

At a meeting of the full council on April 26, councillors approved the draft recommendations, and gave the go-ahead to undertake a second round of consultations.

Running from Friday (May 4), it will seek to find the public's view on the outcome of the first consultation, and invite them to submit any other proposals that have not been included, but which they feel should be considered.

Corporate portfolio holder, cllr Maureen Flood, said: "The guiding principles of the review are that parish arrangements across the borough should reflect the identities and interests of the community in that area, and should be effective and convenient.

"The council is keen to hear from those wishing to support the draft recommendations, as well as comments seeking changes."

Some of the suggestions could see an area near Parsonage Farm move from the Romsey Extra parish to Awbridge and part of the North Baddelsey ward move into the Ampfield and Braishfield area.

The second consultation is running until July 6, and responses can be made by contacting the council.

A cross-party reference group of Test Valley borough councillors will then consider all representations, before making final recommendations to the meeting of the full council in September.

The authority says it then intends to publish its final recommendations in September, and any new arrangements will come into force at the local elections currently scheduled for May 2019.
