DETECTIVES investigating a rape at a Southampton city centre park have released an e-fit.

This is the man police want to speak to after a 26-year-old woman was attacked in Hoglands Park.

He is described as Asian or black, aged in his late 30s, around 5ft 8inch in height and of a skinny build.

He spoke with a foreign accent and was wearing a dark grey beanie hat, a black coat, and dark jeans at the time of the attack.

The incident happened between 6.45pm and 7pm near the skate ramp in Hoglands Park.

The 26-year-old woman was walking through the park when a man approached her and raped her.

She later reported the incident to police and the park was cordoned off.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Matt Barcraft-Barnes said: “This woman was walking on her own through Palmerston Park and into Hoglands Park, when a man approached her and raped her by the skate park area.

“We have been carrying out extensive enquiries in the local area to identify this man. I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man in this e-fit image, or who was in Hoglands Park at the time and saw anything suspicious.

“Our advice is to not be alarmed, but to remain vigilant, Officers from Southampton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team will be patrolling the area, including this evening which coincides with the week anniversary of the assault.

"If you have any concerns, please approach them."
