A HAMPSHIRE animal charity has received £5,000 in funding from the biggest financial pet rescue supporter in the UK.
German Shepherd Rescue South, based in Portchester, has been given the money from Support Adoption For Pets (SAFP), to go towards paying for vet bills and kennel costs.
The charity rescues and rehomes unwanted, abused and stray German Shepherds throughout the UK and is run entirely by volunteers, relying on donations to run.
Amy Wilson, fundraising manager at SAFP said: "It is a real privilege to help an organisation that works so hard to care for and rehome German Shepherd dogs in need. They are doing a superb job, and the effort the rescue puts in is an inspiration."
The SAFP is an independent charity established by retailer Pets at Home in 2006.
It has since helped more than 1,000 rehoming centres and pet rescue organisations across the UK through grant funding and support.
