THIS year’s Great Hampshire Sausage and Pie Competition has received a record-breaking number of entries from butchers and producers eager to impress, say organisers Hampshire Fare.

Forty-six butchers have entered 259 products across 12 categories.

Entry forms have been received for the categories including Traditional Pork Sausage, Speciality Sausage, Hot-eating Pie, Cold-eating Pie, Black Pudding, Pork Pie, Charcuterie and Young Sausage Maker.

The entries will go in front of an expert panel of judges at Eastleigh College today and tomorrow.

Catering students at the college will help run the event.

The winners will be announced at the awards evening at Hampshire Fare’s HQ at Rownhams House on March 1.
