A SCHOOLBOY has been hit by a car on a busy Hampshire road.

The incident happened on Hamble Lane at about 3.10pm today and involved a Ford.

The boy suffered minor injuries following the collision.

A map by travel information service Romanse shows heavy traffic in both directions on the road.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 3.11pm with the caller reporting a collision between a teenage boy and a car.

"We sent two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance to the scene.

"The patient, a 15-year-old male, had sustained leg injuries and after initial treatment at the scene was then taken to University Hospital Southampton."
