A SERIOUSLY injured teenage girl arrived at a Southampton hospital in a late-night incident.

Mystery remains as to how the 14-year-old sustained what police are calling "unexplained" injuries.

The girl was out with her older brother in The Avenue and St Mary's areas in Southampton late on Saturday night before they became separated.

She then turned up alone at the Royal South Hants Hospital at about 1am on Sunday with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police are now keen to work out how the girl came to be hurt.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "Did you see a young girl in the St Mary’s, London Road or Bevois Valley areas between 11pm on Saturday night and 1am on Sunday morning?

"She is described as white, with long brown hair tied up in a high pony tail. She was wearing black leggings with a black jumper with white writing down the left sleeve and a black and white Nike jacket.

"Did you see her? We want to hear from you.
