A HOUSEHOLDER had a lucky escape last night after a huge tree felled by strong winds crashed against his home.
The 80ft tree hit the back of the terraced house in Sedbergh Road, Millbrook, but caused only minor damage to the property.
This morning the tree is still propped against the rear of the building, its top poking above the roof.
Some of the branches are covering the tiles next to the chimney while others have been chopped up and left in a neat pile in the front garden.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the tree damaged the guttering and the fascia boards.
The occupier declined to comment.
