WINCHESTER City missed out on the chance to go fourth in the Evo-Stik South West with defeat at Slimbridge last night.
The Citizens created an abundance of chances on a wet, slippery evening at Thornhill Park, but were beaten 2-0 by a Swans side who secured only their second home league win of the season.
Adam Mace fired the hosts ahead against the run of play on 24 minutes, lifting a cracking free-kick over the wall and into the top corner.
City slid further into arrears on 65 minutes when Jack Twyman netted after a cross had been headed back across goal.
The visitors came close to pulling one back when Oli Bailey hit the crossbar.
Craig Davis's Winchester remain seventh with a trip to rock-bottom Bishops Cleeve to come on Saturday.
