A THORNHILL man stole beef, coffee, cheese and fabric detergent over multiple visits to the same Hedge End store.

Carl Lindsay, of Holcroft Road, visited the Co Op five times between November 9 and November 30 last year.

On his first visits, he stole five tins of coffee, five blocks of cheese and four packs of bacon.

Southampton Magistrates Court heard how the father-of-three returned the following two days.

Prosecutor Dan O'Neill said: "Lindsay went back to the store on November 10 and stole four bottles of detergent worth £31.96 from the Co-Op and on November 11 he stole meat worth £82 from the same store."

Lindsay was finally detained on November 30 after he stole beef from the store, only to be tackled by the security guard, and then 'wriggle away'.

Lindsay pleaded guilty to breaching a post-custodial supervision order and was given a 12-month community order, £50 fine and ordered to pay £50 compensation.
