FOUR homes in Bassett have been targeted by thieves in just eight days.

Cash, jewellery and antiques are amongst the items that have been stolen in the incidents.

On each occasion homes in Bassett Heath Avenue, Bassett Wood Drive, Saxholm Way and Bassett Road were broken into between Tuesday 2 January and Wednesday 10 January.

Houses have been targeted in the afternoons, generally between the hours of 12.30pm and 6.30pm and entry has mostly been gained by forcing rear patio doors.

On two occasions, it is believed the offenders have left empty handed after having been startled by house alarms.

Officers investigating the burglaries have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and reminding residents to remain alert.

Inspector Sharman Wicks from the Southampton North neighbourhood Team said: “If you see anyone acting suspiciously in the Bassett area or you see any kind of activity that concerns you, please call 999 and let us know. Any piece of information might be able to help.

“Remain vigilant, look out for your neighbours and ensure your house is secure.”
