A SOUTHAMPTON pre-school is celebrating after being given the top rating by government inspectors.

Woolston Adventure Pre-school is celebrating the success of its latest Ofsted inspection, which has seen it go from ‘satisfactory’ to ‘outstanding’ in just five years.

In the report, Ofsted inspectors rated the pre-school ‘outstanding’ in all areas praising the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment, the working relationship the school has with parents and carers and the progress children make.

The report added: “Children were very confident to explore and investigate resources around the setting and meet people in the community who were highly motivated and eager to learn.

“Exciting outings for the older children, carefully planned by staff, contribute to their enjoyment and learning experiences.”

Amelia Walker, pre-school manager said: “The children have gained so much confidence and understanding about the world around them. “Activities like sorting shells on the shore or kneading dough in the bakery capture the children’s imagination far more than similar indoor tasks.

“The natural world provides excellent shapes and colours to add to the children’s vocabulary, and the local businesses have been hugely supportive in providing a safe and enlightening experience on each organised visit.”

Amelia also praised the work of her staff and the close working relationship they have with parents.
