The fire broke out near the Seadown Veterinary Hospital in Frost Lane, Hythe.

Photographs posted on social media show flames lighting up the night sky at the height of the blaze.

Hampshire Constabulary's detective sergeant Dal Andrews said: "We're trying to established exactly what happened.

"We're appealing for witnesses to come forward and would particularly like footage of the start of the fire, which we believe people have filmed on their camera phones and other devices."
