EASTLEIGH'S New Year's Day fixture at Torquay United has been postponed.
Andy Hessenthaler's men had been looking to get back to winning ways in the National League following festive home draws against Torquay and Woking.
But, following heavy rain in Devon, the Plainmoor pitch failed an early morning inspection.
A statement issued by The Gulls reads: "Today’s National League match against Eastleigh at Plainmoor has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
"Rain was expected this morning, but a much heavier than expected downpour struck.
"A 9.30am pitch inspection was arranged and referee Adam Bromley declared the pitch unplayable.
"We will bring you more news on the rearranged fixture once we have it and tickets that have already been sold will still be valid."
Eastleigh stated: "The club would like to thank Torquay United for their prompt action in calling the game off at this early stage, allowing the majority of fans to not make the long journey.
"Refunds or credits for coach travel can be obtained from tomorrow."
