AMONG the cases heard at Southampton Magistrates’ Court were:

THOMAS SPENCER ASHBY, 38, of Calshot Road, Calshot, indicated guilty plea to failing to promptly notify the Department for Work and Pensions that he was working and in receipt of earnings and that it would affect his entitlement to employment support allowance. Conditionally discharged for two years, ordered to pay a £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.

LEE ALFRED GEORGE MINTRAM, 33, of Northleigh Corner, Walnut Avenue, Southampton, pleaded guilty to jointly stealing £50 of meat from Co-Op and failing to surrender to court while on bail. Fined £80, ordered to pay compensation of £25 and £85 in court costs.

TOBY DAVID DIAPER, 20, of Sullivan Road, Sholing, pleaded guilty to drug driving. Disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £80, ordered to pay victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £40.

DECLAN WARWICK HOWICK, 20, of Westfield Close, Hamble, indicated guilty plea to stealing an iPhone, bank cards and ID worth approximately £700. Also dishonestly made false representation by using bank card to purchase £59.60 worth of items. Fined £50 and ordered to pay court costs of £100.

SYDNEY ANDREW COOPER, 25, of HMP Bullingdon, Oxfordshire, pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of wine from Co-Op, Totton. Jailed for seven days concurrent to serving sentence.

CHARLIE ANTHONY SEMMENCE, 21, of Sydney Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to taking car without consent before being involved in a collision. Also pleaded guilty to driving without a licence or insurance. Disqualified from driving for 12 months, ordered to do 50 hours’ community service and told to pay £85 in victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

JUNIOR CLEVERLEY, 19, of Millbrook Road West, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after a collision, driving without a licence or insurance. Also on a separate occasion, failed to provide a blood specimen, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. Disqualified for 12 months, six points on licence, ordered to pay court costs of £85 and victim surcharge of £85. Also ordered to complete 30-day thinking skills programme.

SLAWOMIR ROBERT TUREK, 39, of Mansel Road West, Southampton, pleaded guilty to damaging a Nokia phone worth £100. Fined £360, ordered to pay victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85. Also ordered to do 15 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

MICHAEL JOHN HUNT, 43, of Northolt Gardens, Southampton, found guilty of assault. Jailed for 16 weeks, consecutive to previous 10-week sentence for similar offence. Also ordered to pay £115 to victim surcharge.

CREIGHTON PETER MCINTOSH, 22, of Bareberry Drive, Totton, pleaded guilty to damaging a pair of hair straighteners and sending threatening message. Fined £311, ordered to pay victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85. Also ordered to do 15 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

BRETT FOX, 28, of Kings Copse Avenue, Hedge End. Pleaded guilty to breaching a non-molestation order by harassment. Ordered to a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85. Also given a community order for rehabilitation and ordered to carry out 40 hours’ unpaid work in the next 12 months.

JANIS GRIGORJEVS, 20, of Colwell Close, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to assault. Given a given a community order for rehabilitation and ordered to carry out 80 hours’ unpaid work within the next 12 months. Also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85.

LEON ROY HINE, 23, of Banning Street, Romsey. Pleaded guilty to assault and a damaging a BMW 330. Given a given a community order and ordered to carry out 60 hours’ unpaid work within the next 12 months. Also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85.

WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER MCCASH, 32, of Barry Road, Bitterne. Pleaded guilty to assault. Given a community order for rehabilitation, fined £150 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85. Also given a two-year restraining order.

JAKE ANTONY SHAW, 21, of Portswood Road, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to two counts of assault. Given a community order for rehabilitation and ordered to carry out 60 hours’ unpaid work within the next 12 months. Also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85.

BRIAN DANIEL YOUNG, 26, of Ballard Close, Millbrook, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to sending a text message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character. Given a community for rehabilitation and ordered to carry out 60 hours’ unpaid work within the next 12 months. Also given a one-year restraining order and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85.

STEPHEN MICHAEL RYAN, 39, of no fixed address. Pleaded guilty to stealing seven sets of Bluetooth headphones to the value of £118.97 belonging to TK Maxx, failed to surrender to custody at Southampton Magistrates’ Court and to breaching a 12-month conditional discharge order. Given a four-month prison sentence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and costs of £85.

GEOFFREY MARTIN CAVANAGH, 59, of no fixed address. Pleaded guilty to two counts of assault. Given a four-month prison sentence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and costs of £200. Also given a two-year restraining order.

JASON PATRICK MCCARTHY, 44, of Millbrook Road West, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to assault, stealing a milkshake belonging to the Co-op and breaching a suspended sentence order. Given a two-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and a 16-week sentence suspended for two years as part of a revised suspended sentence order. Also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and costs of £85.
