AN EMOTIONAL night paying tribute to hard work and dedication of health workers saw hundreds of employees from the NHS.

Over 250 people from Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust attended the ceremony at The Grand Harbour Hotel, to see who clinched a Southern Health’s Star Award.

The awards are designed to recognise teams and individuals, both clinical and non-clinical, who go above and beyond their call of duty and are passionate providing the best possible service to people they care for, the local population and their colleagues.

More than 2000 individuals were nominated, with only 40 shortlisted in nine categories. Among the winners were Katy Gold, integrated care team lead and therapy team lead from Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, who collected the transformation award and exceptional individual award winner Charlotte Bye, from Lymington New Forest Hospital.

Tatchbury Mount Calmore was another big winner, with its IT training team claiming the quality care award, and clinical ward manager Florence Chihowa winning the respecting others award.

The categories are based on the trust’s values; people and patients first, partnership and respect.

Southern Health’s new chief executive Nick Broughton, who hosted the event, said: “Every nomination we received is a reflection of the passion, hard work and commitment our staff provide to the people they support every day.

“I am proud to be leading an organisation where staff really care about the people they support and the people they work with.”
