AMONG the cases recently heard at Southampton Magistrates’ Court recently were:

AKBAR ISLAM, 29, of Denzil Avenue, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath when asked by officers, driving without relevant licence for vehicle and without insurance. Committed to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for two years. Disqualified from driving for 36 months. Ordered to pay £85 costs and £115 victim surcharge.

KAROL KNAPIK, 40, of St Mary Street, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to stealing £419.99 and £319.99 vacuums from John Lewis, Southampton. Community order made. Ordered to pay £739.98 compensation.

RYAN BROWN, 19, of Radley Close, Hedge End. Admitted breaching the requirements of a community order. Fined £60 and ordered to pay £60 costs.

GEORGIA HOLE, 19, of The Meadows, Lyndhurst. Admitted breaching the requirements of a community order. New community order made. Ordered to pay £30 costs.

MARTIN TRAVERS, 46, of Clovelly Road, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance. Fined £200. Disqualified from driving for 12 months. Ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

CRISTI POPESCU, 28, of Colby Street, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to failing to provide a sample after being suspected of driving while under the influence. Disqualified from driving for 18 months. Fined £200. Ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

KATE BURROWS, 36, of Brighstone Close, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to drink driving. Fined £350 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £35 and costs of £85. Also disqualified from driving for 18 months.

JESSICA PAULA FARWELL, 27, of Copsewood Road, Hythe. Pleaded guilty to drink driving. Fined £300 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85. Also disqualified from driving for 19 months.

ANTHONY WILLIAM LUCAS, 62, of Denmead Road, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to speeding. Fined £200 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85. Also disqualified from driving for one month.

NECATTIN SEN, 59, of, Queen Street, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to speeding and failing to give information about the identification of a driver who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence. Fined £880 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £66 and costs of £620.

JOHN SHIPTON, 68, of Stannington Crescent, Totton. Pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle when not in a position to be able to have proper control of it. Fined £250 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £625. Also given three points on driving licence.

SHAUN JAMES PANNELL, 34, of no fixed address. Pleaded guilty to assault. Given an 18-week prison sentence. Also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.

ADAM RICHARD BASFORD, 33, of Rodney Court, Anson Drive, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to sexual touching. Given a 20-week prison sentence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115. Also given a two-year restraining order and put on the sex offenders register for seven years.

DANIEL BURROWS, 27, of Romsey Road, Southampton. Pleaded guilty to drink driving. Fined £400 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £40 and costs of £85. Disqualified from driving for 17 months.
