HUNDREDS of Eastleigh residents shared a meal together in the run up to Christmas.

More than 200 residents flocked to the Market Precinct to get into the festive spirit and enjoy a community meal.

Organised by Asian Welfare and Cultural Association (AWCA) in Eastleigh, the event aimed at bringing the community together and also support people in need.

Mohammed Mossadaq of AWCA said: “It was great to see so many people coming in and sharing food. We are part of the Eastleigh community and we wanted to share the food together with the community.

“It was also a chance to help people in need, particularly at this time of the year when it’s really cold and we want to provide people with a hot meal.”

The food was cooked by the Southampton-based restaurant Sanjha while ingredients were provided by AWCA.

Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Eastleigh Gurkha Nepalese Association and the borough council supported the event.
