HUNDREDS of runners limbered up for Christmas by taking part in an annual 10k run on Southampton Common.
Athletes from across the south braved heavy rain to complete almost three laps of the common.
The fastest female runner was 15-year-old Abigail Woolaston, of Andover Athletics Club, who set a new course record for women by finishing in 39min and 36 sec.
The male winner was Adam Whitmee, of Run Academy Worthing, who crossed the line in 36.24, and the team prize went to Basingstoke-based Hatch Warren Runners.
It was one of several events across the country staged by MCC Promotions.
Organiser Mark Caswell said: "The weather was awful but apart from that it was a jovial Christmas run. The atmosphere was good and the event took place in a beautiful setting."
Proceeds will go to the charity Action for Blind People.
