The River Itchen
A MAN has been rescued after becoming stuck in mud near the River Itchen.
Emergency services were called to Priory Road in Southampton at around 3.38am today after reports of a man stuck in mud.
Firefighters from Redbridge, St Mary and Fareham Fire Station rushed to the scene and rescued the man, believed to be in his 30s.
A coastguard team was also sent out.
The man was handed to ambulance services.
