A GRIEVING woman faces being booted out of the family home in the run up to Christmas, following the death of her mother.

Anne Marie Forder has been living with her mother in a council house on Midlands Estate in West End for the past 45 years, and spent years caring for her.

But after her mother Joan died, the 51-year-old – who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia – said she has been asked to leave the property in four weeks.

Although she acknowledged that there are other families waiting for a three-bedroom home, she said she is not ready to leave the house where her memories are and that she cannot afford to rent a private home where she can live with her 10 cats and five dogs.

She said: “I’ve got nothing, this is my home.

“I have been told to leave in four weeks.

“My mum’s funeral is on December 15 and I am struggling with it.

“I understand it is a three-bedroom property but I want to stay here, this is my home,” she said.

Anne Marie, who works as an assistant baker for 33 hours per week, said she is having to reduce the number of hours she works as she has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body, tiredness and muscle stiffness.

Annie Marie, whose 79-year-old mother died on November 29 after suffering with breathing problems and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), said: “ I come home and I can’t walk.

“I can’t work for more than 30 hours a week, I’m having to reduce it.”

Anne Marie said that if she has to move out she will only be able to afford another council house and hopes that it would be big enough for her pets.

“I want a place where I can keep my animals, they are all I have”, she added.

The property where Anne Marie lives is managed by Vivid.

Derek Streek, head of neighbourhoods at Vivid, said: “We empathise with the situation and we continue to support our customer during this difficult time.

“We’ve said that our customer can remain in the property while we support her to find alternative smaller accommodation, so that the three bedroom property she currently occupies can be let to a family that requires that size accommodation.”
