A LIMOUSINE that was owned by one of the richest men in the world is set to attract dozens of Hampshire residents.

A Rolls-Royce Emperor limousine, once owned by the Sultan of Brunei, will be in Eastleigh on Saturday.

The car will be filled with balloons and residents who guess how many balloons there are inside.

They will be able to get on board the limousine in December and travel in style to a show at the Mayflower Theatre.

The limousine, built in the UK, was used by the sultan between 1993 and 1997.

It was then brought to the UK and bought by Paul Capper, funeral director at Cappers Independent Funeral Directors of Hampshire LTD based in Eastleigh.

Now the car will be at Wells Place from 11am on October 28 as the Royal British Legion begins its remembrance activities.

To guess the number of the balloons, residents will be asked for a donation towards the poppy appeal. The event is organised by the Royal British Legion in Eastleigh.

Paul Capper, who is also branch chairman, said: ”It’s an alternative way of buying a poppy. The community contribution is vital. We wouldn’t have the freedom that we do have if it wasn’t for the armed forces.”

Residents are also invited to take part to the Festival of Remembrance at The Point theatre at 7pm on October 29.

For the next three weeks, poppies will also be displayed on Xelabus buses in Eastleigh, while the limousine will be in Wells Place again on November 4 and 11.
