LIKE all couples, Paul Haines and Caroline Brown wanted to make their wedding day memorable.

So the pair’s entrance at their marriage service was slightly different to the classic horse and carriage.

The avid scooter lovers decided to make the day even more unforgettable by enrolling the help of their friends to travel by TukTuk to the venue - flanked by a troop of 50 scooters.

The couple met more than two years ago through Paul’s sister and quickly hit it off with their mutual love for scooters.

It’s a love which has seen them both become members of the Southampton-based Wimpson Old Boys (WOB) Scooter Club, with Caroline being the first woman to have a seat of the committee.

Mum-of-two Caroline, 52, said: “We both love scooters, always have and that was one of the first things we found out about each other that we shared this interest.

“The idea just grew and grew after we got engaged to have a big troop of them follow us to the ceremony and Paul and I were ecstatic to get all the club involved.”

The social worker from Eastleigh married transport manager Paul, 50 in front of all their friends and family on Saturday.

Dad-of-two Paul added: “The turnout is just absolutely amazing, we are both so overwhelmed by how many scooters have turned up today it’s just brilliant. I'm so excited to be married and it's a brilliant way to make our day a bit more special and do something different.”

Caroline said: “It’s so heart-warming to see so many people here who wanted to get involved in our day. The WOB club is such a community and everyone feels like family so it’s lovely that everyone got involved I can’t imagine having the day without them.”

The couple travelled in a TukTuk with the scooters, with club dog Trigger hopping into a basket to travel along, to Southampton Register Office before going for a meal to celebrate together.

Caroline's daughter Jess, 22, gave her mum away during the ceremony. She said: “I’m so happy for them both it’s a great day and they’re so happy. The scooters was such a good idea, I’ve grown up around them so it seemed normal to get them involved in some way.”

Caroline and Paul got engaged on Good Friday this year and Caroline said Paul waited all day for the perfect moment to propose at The Saints pub in Millbrook, where the WOB club meets.

Caroline added: “It was really special and lovely to be at the place where we all go as a group. We’ve had so many great memories there so it’s great to add this one.”
