CILLA and the Shades of the '60s performs at Newport Medina Theatre, IOW on Sunday.

Cilla and the Shades of the 60s stars the effervescent Victoria Jones as Cilla and Leanne Kyte, Rebecca Lauren, and Jazmin Patey-Ford as the Shades.

Together Cilla and the Shades take the audience on a pop-tastic musical journey starting with the discovery of the teenage singer, Cilla Black, at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club and presents many of the biggest hits by artists who changed the world of popular entertainment in the 1960s, including Cilla, Dusty, Lulu, Tina Turner, The Beatles and more.

The show relives highlights of Cilla’s stellar career – by the time Cilla was 21 she was working with Beatles’ producer George Martin and was at Number 1 with You’re My World and Anyone Who Had A Heart.

Cilla was Britain’s No. 1 female singer during the 1960s and became the most popular TV presenter with her own TV show, Cilla, which ran from 1966-1978 and Blind Date which ran for a record breaking 18 years.

“Growing up in Liverpool, I knew Cilla as a TV presenter but when I discovered her music I was amazed by her vocal range and her emotional depth," says Victoria. "I find her ballads so beautiful and she portrays heartbreak in a truly moving way. Her passion has always inspired me – in fact I think I was born in the wrong decade!

“I’m really looking forward to performing in Newport on April 29th, at last.

"I’m just delighted we were able to re-schedule our date at the Medina Theatre – there was so much snow and ice at the beginning of March, our tour bus literally couldn’t move. But we’ve been having a great time on tour since then – so look out Isle of Wight, we’re on the way!”
