HAVING staged their first show in 1968 with Goodnight Vienna, Milton Musical Society are celebrating their 50th Anniversary production with Lerner & Loewe’s show stopping hit musical, My Fair Lady, which can be seen at the Regent Centre from Wednesday April 18 to Saturday 21.

My Fair Lady has only just been re-released for amateur productions, so this a real coup for Milton Musical Society to celebrate its 50th Anniversary.

This multi-award winning musical will have a cast of 65 to bring to life this iconic story, hailed by critics and audiences alike for its heart and wit.

It is a beautiful musical about transformation, patronage, gender politics and class, based on George Bernard Shaw’s play, Pygmalion.

Alex Cook plays Henry Higgins, with Amy McIntosh as his pupil Eliza Doolittle.

The show is being directed by John Teather and produced by Terry Barnett, the same team who staged the much-acclaimed Oklahoma! for Milton Musical Society last year.

“I thought that our last production was challenging,” said John. “But My Fair Lady, with its large cast is a tough but worthwhile journey.

“After three months of rehearsals three times a week, this very talented cast are more than ready to do justice to Shaw’s story, and the lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe.”

This wonderful musical features songs such as Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?, Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, On the Street Where You Live and Get Me to the Church on Time.
