CHARISMATIC adventurer and poet Sir Walter Raleigh will be remembered in Winchester this weekend.
Both tonight and tomorrow, Sir Walter's Women, an original drama based on his life, will be performed at The Great Hall.
Sir Walter was tried for treason in the very same hall, adding a sense of authenticity to the play.
This year marks the 400th anniversary of Raleigh's death and the show will celebrate his life work.
It will take an intimate look at the legacy of his expeditions and study his fall from grace as a respected favourite of the Queen.
The performance is part of the Heritage Open Days project in Winchester.
Admission is free for all ages but seats must be reserved at the Heritage Open Days website, or by calling 01962 846476.
Performance dates and times:
19.00 – Friday 14 September
18.00 and 20.00 – Saturday 15 September
The Great Hall, Winchester, SO23 8UJ
