THEATRE for Life Youth Theatre Company presents Burying Your Brother in the Pavement by Jack Thorne on Saturday at the Hub Theatre at City College in Southampton.

Tilly’s brother Luke is dead.

This has upset a lot of people but it hasn’t upset Tilly.

Or, rather, it has upset her, but in ways she can’t explain and other people can't understand.

You see, Tilly and Luke were never friends.

In fact, Tilly didn't really like Luke at all.

So it’s an odd decision - to try and bury Luke in the pavement of the Tunstall Estate where he was killed. But to Tilly, it sort of makes sense, in a stupid-weird kind of way.

As she sleeps out on the pavement, she comes across planning officials, tramps, undertakers, police officers, sisters, mothers, estate agents, ghosts, pavement elephants, sky dragons and a strange lad called Tight who wants to sell her a travelcard.

This is a thought provoking, funny and poignant play about a young girl coming to terms with how and why her brother died.

It is a challenging and complex play that tackles important issues such as sexuality, love, friendship, family and finding the truth.

The Youth Theatre has been set up as a Community Interest Company, allowing local performers in the Southampton area aged 14-19 yrs old to participate for free.

The ethos is to create inspiring and challenging theatre that is innovative and collaborative, whilst building confidence and performance skills.

Your ticket contribution will allow many young people who cannot afford participation in the arts to thrive through its purposeful theatre projects, tickets available at: www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/theatre-for-life-14298538008.
