Growling grannies, feathery farm animals and bags of frothbuggling fun all feature in Curve and Rose Theatre’s imaginative new co-production George’s Marvellous Medicine, at Nuffield Southampton Theatres Campus from Tuesday until Saturday.

Based on the much loved children’s book by Roald Dahl and adapted by David Wood, George’s Marvellous Medicine promises to be a fantastical, phizz-whizzing production for all the family, with exciting writing, humour and original music.

Most grandmothers are lovely, kind, helpful old ladies.

Not George’s Grandmother.

George’s Grandmother likes to gobble up slugs and bugs, and is always telling George what to do.

But one day, George takes his chance and sets about creating a brand new medicine to cure her of her cruelty.

Little does he know that his perilous potion will be the start of rather marvellous adventure…

George’s Marvellous Medicine features a small but dynamic cast of actor-musicians, who perform the original score throughout the show using a variety of instruments, including violins, banjos and even a vibraphone.

Talented young actor Preston Nyman will play the show’s creative hero George. Lisa Howard, known for her recurring role as Grace Sheehan in Emmerdale, will play the grizzly Grandma. Catherine Morris will play George’s mum, while Justin Wilman and Chandni Mistry will play dad and chicken, respectively.

George’s Marvellous Medicine comes to NST Campus following the success of The Twits, The Witches and NST’s Fantastic Mr Fox, in co-production with Curve Theatre.
