RENOWNED TV chef Lawrence Keogh is lending his culinary skills and cooking for a charity fundraiser.

The Greyfriar pub in Chawton village - just opposite Jane Austen’s House and Museum, is presenting a special charity event on Thursday June 21 to raise funds for the National Kidney Federation.

Before taking over the Greyfriar last year, landlord Simon Brencher had worked in a number of successful London restaurants and connected with some of the city’s finest chefs including Lawrence Keogh, who is well known for his appearances on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen Live.

Simon has invited Lawrence to be Guest Chef for the event as Lawrence has first hand experience of kidney problems and wants to support raising funds for the National Kidney Federation, which is dedicated to creating awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease. One of the staff at the Greyfriar has also had experience of kidney disease in her family.

The evening will feature a menu created by Lawrence Keogh, with a five course meal for £50 per head including a free £5 raffle ticket, with a large range of luxury prizes donated by local and national companies. Prizes will include a cruise experience and meals at three top London restaurants. The event will also include a British themed wine tasting.
