NUFFIELD Southampton Theatres (NST) has launched a brand new summer holidays project for young people aged between 7-19 years to discover theatre, make new friends and bring their own stories to life, titled What About Me?.

Spanning July 30 til August 10, What About Me? will give young people the opportunity to work with professional theatre makers to create scripts based on their own experiences which highlight what is most important to them, culminating in a final performance.

What About Me? will take place at NST’s brand new, state-of-the-art performing arts venue, NST City, located in Southampton’s Cultural Quarter.

Seven to 12-year-olds will be working in NST City’s sprung floor rehearsal space and 13 to 19-year-olds in its 133-seat studio theatre.

What About Me? has been organised by NST and ArtfulScribe as part of the wider SO:Write programme, which aims to develop writers in Southampton.

Matt West, Director of ArtfulScribe, said: “It’s great to be partnering with NST to deliver an innovative summer project aimed at engaging younger voices from the local community, and empowering a new generation of storytellers, writers and theatre makers.

“From generating new ideas to writing scenes for performance, there’s scope for all ability levels to get involved and work together to produce something really special.”
