AS the weather heats, up Proteus Creation Space is excited to present Summer of Love, a season of innovative and original performance which puts Basingstoke on the map as a centre for the best of British performance.

Recently voted Best Theatre/Arts Venue in the Muddy Stilettos Muddy Hants Awards 2018, over the next few months Proteus will be presenting new shows from some of the UK’s most exciting and ambitious artists - from award-winning international multimedia company ZU:UK to the hilarious shaker and movement maker Sarah Blanc - who will be exploring love in its many guises.

The season launches on June 7 with a fun and frivolous performance by Sarah Blanc. Her solo comedic dance show, It Started with Jason Donovan , was a five-star hit at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and promises audiences ‘important life lessons for those with too many broken hearts, through dance, theatre, comedy and a whole lot of lycra’ as Sarah recounts her past dating history through the songs of her childhood crush, Jason Donovan.

Next up, Proteus’ adult community theatre workshop group, The Proteans, return to The Walled Garden with their unique take on Twelfth Night from June 15 - 17. A show full of songs, slapstick, cross-gartering and fun.

And, on June 30, there is an exciting collaboration between Basingstoke Youth Theatre and Little Soldier Productions intriguingly titled Revolution. This is the first time that the youth theatre group has devised a performance with this award-winning theatre company, bringing their ideas and creativity to life. The show promises honey-coated, candy-floss moments, bombastic musical numbers, and heart-felt performances, telling stories about experiencing love for the first time.
