Keith James is set to play at Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Wednesday May 16.

One of the UK’s most passionate and enduring concert performers celebrates 40 years of music and marks the release of his new album Captured – the Best of Keith James in one of only a handful of very special concerts to mark 40 years of performing and writing music.

The performance showcases the very best from more than 2,000 concerts and 14 Albums – all in one concert – and the Daily Echo has two tickets to give away.

A strongly independent musician and composer, Keith has never signed a recording or publishing deal, yet he has released thirteen albums and performs more than one hundred shows annually to sell-out crowds.

After more than a decade as a record producer, working on albums with many of the UK’s most talented musicians and writers, Keith fulfilled his love of live performance in 2001 by undertaking a UK-wide tour of concerts based entirely on his love of the songwriter Nick Drake.

As Nick’s music had never been heard live by today’s music audience these concerts soon became a huge success and to date Keith has played over 2000 shows.

Over the past six years, Keith has performed an extensive tour of The Songs of Leonard Cohen. Singing his bare and passionate interpretations of these masterfully written songs has proved to be the greatest honour of Keith’s 40-year career.

Keith has performed many different concerts over his career, the most notable being two albums and hugely successful tours featuring the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca set to music.

The Best Of Concert features a collection of Keith's own songs, along with intelligent and sensitive interpretations from the works of by Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, John Martyn, Lorca, Dylan Thomas and Pablo Neruda.

There will be stories from the hedonistic and chaotic world of London recording studios in the 1980s, and in fact Keith first played in Southampton in 1980 at Goblet's Wine Bar, anecdotes, secrets, disasters, and an audience Q and A.

And there’s lots to talk about because over the years Keith has worked with an array of talented musicians and performers and performed over 2000 concerts in the UK, Ireland, Holland, Norway, France, Spain, USA, Italy and Greece.
