THEY have supported some of the biggest new bands at The Joiners in Southampton and now local rockers Costellos will headline there tomorrow.

Frontman George Dummett, guitarist Keiren Pearce, bassist Kieran Wilson and drummer Tomi Lewis have previously played second fiddle to groups like The Sherlocks and Blossoms, but are now looking forward to topping the bill themselves.

“The Joiners is going to be great fun; it is hard to believe that the first time we’ve properly headlined there, even though we are all from Southampton,” Keiren told The Echo.

The band released their debut EP called Out of the Blue in April. George said “These tunes are about the world we live in, our surroundings and what we get up to.”

They have previously sold out Heartbreakers and The Loft in Southampton and played at Common People and Winchestival festivals, but it is further afield that the lads are looking to next.

“We had some interest from France after releasing our EP so we are playing a venue called Truskel in Paris in October,” said George.

“We are in a good place at the moment and our focus is on playing live. Hopefully, we can sort another run of gigs in the new year,” added Keiren.

Costellos supported The Sherlocks at The Joiners when the South Yorkshire band first visited the South in 2015. They will be able to catch up with their old pals again when The Sherlocks play The Engine Rooms on October 28.
