INDIE stars Blossoms have announced a winter tour, including their first date in Southampton for more than three years.

The five-piece will play nine new dates including the O2 Guildhall on Tuesday December 11 and two huge homecoming nights in Manchester.

Front man Tom Ogden, drummer Joe Donovan, lead guitarist Josh Dewhurst, bassist Charlie Salt and keyboard player Myles Kellock are flying high after their second album, Cool Like You, smashed into the top five in April.

New singles I Can’t Stand It and There’s a Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls) are already up there with favourites like Charlemagne, Getaway and At Most A Kiss from their self-titled number one debut record.

The band have also taken to the stage at some of the biggest festivals of the summer including Isle of Wight, Neighbourhood Weekender, All Points East in London and Tramlines in Sheffield on Saturday.

Now they are embarking on the second half of their most ambitious tour so far, including playing to more than 7,000 people across two nights at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.

Blossoms were last in Southampton in 2015 when they brought their indie pop synth sounds to The Joiners before joining the line-up for Independence Festival at Engine Rooms.

The band take their name from The Blossoms public house at the corner of Bramhall Lane and Buxton Road in Stockport, while the scaffolding yard where they first practised is the featured on the cover of their debut album.

The lads are good pals with hotly tipped Scottish stars Neon Waltz who they used to play gigs with in their early days. Tom and Joe even ploughed through snow in February to watch them in London two days after the Caithness group appeared at Heartbreakers in Southampton.

This time they will be joined on tour by fellow Stockport band Fuzzy Sun, who released their Blossoms produced debut EP Want Love in March.

Tickets are on sale at 9am tomorrow and to O2 Priority members now. More at gigsandtours.com and ticketmaster.com.
