LITERATE punk tunes with a Christmas bent may well have connotations with a certain other famous McGowan, but this year local singer Sean will be giving Southampton something new to sing about at a huge headline gig taking place at the city’s 1865 venue.
Following numerous hometown sell out shows over the past few years, Sean will now size up what looks to be the biggest of them all on the December 15 as he celebrates what has been a truly extraordinary year with his gig, The Son of Smith Comes Home for Crimbo.
On the night, Sean will be joined by some very fine support, plus a very special guest to be announced in due course.
In a year that has seen the ascending punk-poet release his exceptional debut album, Son Of The Smith, perform across Europe with his heroes Billy Bragg, Will Varley, Skinny Lister, The Levellers and Frank Turner, release a string of infectious singles including current ear worm Cuppa Tea and his sold out capacity headline show at Southampton’s legendary Joiners venue...there could only ever be one way for Sean to bow out of 2018.
Tickets for the event went on sale yesterday from: musicglue.com/seanmcgowan.
