THE Brook live music venue in Southampton has a packed week of gigs ahead and tonight's performance by the Hempolics is creating "a huge buzz".

Soulful and Psychedelic, The Hempolics are an infectious mash up of Reggae, Electro, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and Rock n Pop and those in the know say they are "about to explode".

Recently interviewed on Liz Kershaw’s ‘Legend in your own Lunchtime’ show, she introduced them saying “Sometimes you just hear something and immediately know they’ve just got what it takes.”

Lauren Laverne also raved about them during her Radio6 Live Room interview, hailing them as one of her top picks of big things to come and with their latest single, ‘Me Love to Sing’ being loudly shouted about and playlisted by Steve Lamacq, Roodigan and Donn Letts (Radio6), The Hempolics are certainly a raging storm brewing, that promises to tear up the UK Music Scene.

Their newly released Debut Album, ‘Kiss Cuddle & Torture’ has attracted some very special guests including Maxi Jazz (Faithless) who features on the track ‘In My Brain’ and describes them as “the best band in the UK ~ but nobody knows it yet…”

And chart topping ‘Paisley’ star Paulo Nutini has so much love for this up and coming outfit, he secretly recorded several tracks for the album (‘Roadside’ & ‘Armed and Dangerous’) in their London flat!

He says of them “And through the haze there shone a white light, and from that light played sweet sweet music… and to that music… We got high. Much love to the Hemps” Paolo Nutini

Another fan of The Hempolic buzz and also featuring on the album is Lindy Layton, best known for 1990 Beats International hit ‘Dub Be Good to Me’

Their organic and rootsy vibes got the single ‘Serious’ to No 1 in the UK Geaggae charts and was also playlist on Massive Attack’s BBC Takeover.

And if that’s not enough, The Hempolics track ‘Samurai’ was chosen as the official trailer to The Coen Brother’s movie ‘Hail, Caesar!’, featuring George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Ralph Feinnes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson and many more.

With this band poised to step into the lime light of the music world, it is too big an opportunity to miss them at The Brook tonight with support from Basement 83 and DJs Soul 45.

Also at the Brook this week are: Guitar Legends - a tribute to the guitar greats (Saturday), and Moulettes with Sam Walker, a "folk rock mash up" (Wednesday). And next Friday T-Rex fans are in for a treat as the ultimate tribute to Marc Bolan T.Rextasy will perform.
