A HOST of up and coming indie bands from Southampton and further afield will showcase the sound of the South at The Joiners on Saturday night.

Southampton Local Indie Night is being put on and headlined by members of The Edit, four teens with Joiners and Talking Heads gigs and festival slots at Beggars Fair Romsey and Sound Of The Town already under their belts, as well as a debut EP on the way.

Combining a host of indie influences,The Edit blend the likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and The Stone Roses with their own modern spin.

Southampton’s Campbell ‘Spike’ Kent, Samuel Carter, from Marchwood, George Noonan from Locks Heath and Samuel Leone Petrou, who lives in Ashurst, formed the band after meeting as music students at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College.

They are working on self-penned tracks including Skittles, their signature tune which always opens every gig, Dreamworld, Watch You Fade Away and Don’t Like You Anyway.

Also on the bill for the Joiners showcase are Circus Of Five, Kicks and Me and The Moon.

Members of Circus of Five are fellow students at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College with The Edit and say they like playing loudly and people who dance!

Kicks supported Vant at The Loft to acclaim as they played their biggest show to date the night before collecting their GCSE results back in the summer. Taylor Hopper, Jamie Baigent, Paddy McCarthy, Joe McGuinness and Nathan Lyons, all 16 years old, went down a storm ahead of punk rock’s rising stars who were playing the new Southampton venue as they warmed up for their Reading and Leeds slots.

Me and The Moon, a trio from Guildford, have recently released their debut EP Run With Wolves. The band, who formed in 2015, have impressed with their debut single Get Away and brand new offering Standing Still.

Expect a party atmosphere as fans of all four bands have a chance to take in plenty more new indie music.

Tickets, priced £5, are on sale now from joiners.vticket.co.uk
