Monochroma is a sizzling cinematic puzzle platformer that takes place in an industrial-alchemic setting.

In short, it's about being a child, having a little brother, growing up, falling down and solving some puzzles, but the unusual atmospheric black and white presentation immediately sets it apart from other titles in the genre.

The mix of exploration, narrative and puzzling is perfectly balanced, accompanied by a hypnotic, memorable score which will live on in your mind long after the game has been completed.

It's beautiful and bizarre all at the same time, and despite some minor bugs along the way, there's no doubt PC gamers will be captivated by the experience on offer here for under 20 quid, reliving the central character's agony to save his friend, building towards a fabulous ending you'll never have seen coming.

SCORE: 8/10
